Research indicates that managing job stress and hypertension is critical for the long-term health of older employees. In South Korea, security workers often face long hours and rotating shift work. These conditions significantly exacerbate cardiovascular risks. A recent multilevel analysis examined 146 security workers with hypertension across 45 apartment complexes. The findings revealed that both individual behaviors and the work environment influence stress levels.
Several factors emerged as key predictors of mental strain. Interestingly, higher educational attainment was associated with greater stress. This link likely stems from a perceived mismatch between qualifications and job duties. Additionally, lower sleep satisfaction and inadequate social support significantly worsened the experience of job stress and hypertension. Consequently, improving social networks and sleep hygiene should be primary goals for occupational health programs.
The environment of the workplace also plays a vital role in patient outcomes. Specifically, workers in certain types of apartment management systems reported higher stress than others. Furthermore, the lack of control over shift schedules often disrupts the circadian rhythm. Therefore, physicians should screen older patients for workplace-related stressors during routine check-ups. Notably, addressing these factors can improve blood pressure control and overall well-being. Moreover, involving the family in the support system can provide the necessary emotional buffer against heavy workplace demands.
Finally, healthcare providers must recognize that hypertension is not just a physiological condition. It is deeply connected to a patient's social and professional life. By integrating stress management into clinical practice, doctors can help patients mitigate the risks of heart disease. In contrast to solely relying on medication, a holistic approach ensures better adherence and lifestyle modification.

Quality sleep allows the cardiovascular system to recover and regulates hormones that control blood pressure. Poor sleep satisfaction combined with job strain can triple the risk of cardiovascular mortality.
