Understanding the link between dietary AGEs and migraine offers a new avenue for preventive care. Chronic accumulation of these compounds in body tissues can trigger oxidative stress and activate RAGE (Receptor for Advanced Glycation Endproducts), promoting systemic inflammation. Reducing the consumption of ultra-processed foods and adopting moisture-rich cooking techniques—such as steaming or poaching—could potentially lower the systemic AGE burden.
Moreover, clinicians should encourage adherence to anti-inflammatory dietary patterns like the Mediterranean diet. Although further large-scale clinical trials are necessary to evaluate serum AGE levels, these initial findings provide a strong foundation for integrating nutritional counseling into standard neurology practice.
