Research indicates that gradual dose reduction remains the cornerstone of clinical practice, utilized in approximately 71% of successful interventions. Furthermore, patient education (50%) and cognitive-behavioral therapy (43%) significantly improve success rates compared to tapering alone.
Pharmacist-led interventions also demonstrate high efficacy in benzodiazepine deprescribing strategies. By conducting thorough medication reviews and providing structured guidance, pharmacists help bridge the gap between initial prescription and successful cessation.
