Experts analysed 6,886 patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation (NVAF) and found that an increase in heart rate (HR) to the highest quartile was linked to higher risks of thromboembolism (HR 2.89), major hemorrhage (HR 2.46), and all-cause death (HR 2.36). Persistently high HR also increased mortality, while a modest HR reduction was associated with lower risks. Monitoring HR changes may improve NVAF management.
