India faces uniquely high stakes in the fight against drug-resistant infections. Specifically, C-CAMP recently hosted the second India AMR Innovation workshop in Delhi to address these challenges. Therefore, the event gathered over one hundred stakeholders to discuss collaborative strategies. Furthermore, the workshop highlighted breakthrough innovations supported by the India AMR Innovation Hub (IAIH). Consequently, the Principal Scientific Adviser launched a compendium of sixty AMR solutions. This collection features tools for diagnostics, therapeutics, and environmental monitoring. While these solutions are diverse, they all follow the One Health approach. Moreover, the IAIH now serves as the official innovation arm of India's National Action Plan (NAP) 2.0.
In addition, C-CAMP introduced the first-of-its-kind IAIH Grand Challenges. These challenges aim to incentivize solutions for critical and underfunded problems. For instance, bioremediation of antibiotic waste remains a key priority. Similarly, affordable rapid diagnostics for primary health centers require urgent attention. Consequently, the new IAIH Impact Fund will provide unified funding for biotech startups. Specifically, it supports companies from the TRL-4 stage onwards. This funding aims to improve both commercial success and public health impact. Furthermore, the workshop unveiled a new cohort of seven startups. These companies focus on detecting resistant microbes in environmental samples.
