The management of wildlife-linked neurocysticercosis mirrors standard protocols. Patients generally respond well to a combination of antiparasitic agents like albendazole and praziquantel. Furthermore, clinicians often administer corticosteroids to mitigate the inflammatory response triggered by the degenerating parasite. In the reported Italian case, the patient showed significant improvement following targeted therapy, highlighting that standard NCC treatments remain effective against these rare species.
While T. solium (pork tapeworm) involves a domestic cycle with pigs, T. martis circulates in wildlife, particularly martens and weasels. Humans are accidental hosts for both, but T. martis infections are far rarer and usually occur in temperate forest regions.
