Furthermore, they play a crucial role as dental auxiliaries by assisting with the impressions required for custom mouthguards. Moreover, some professionals are actively involved in promoting trauma prevention devices. Specifically, they assist dentists during the emergency treatment of sports-related jaw injuries. Therefore, their involvement is vital for ensuring athlete safety during high-impact competitions.
Although these hygienists are highly active, many express a desire for more venues to apply their specialized skills. Additionally, some members participate in practical instruction to help spread sports dentistry education to the next generation. In fact, increasing professional opportunities could significantly improve the oral health of both elite athletes and sports enthusiasts. Therefore, developing specialized training programs remains a top priority for the JASD to enhance the qualifications of its members. Consequently, these efforts will likely lead to better clinical outcomes in the prevention of maxillofacial trauma.
