The National Medical Commission (NMC) has announced a significant opportunity for retired government officers: the NMC Legal Consultant Recruitment. Applicants must also be medically fit and should not have faced any vigilance or disciplinary proceedings at the time of retirement. Additionally, the applicant's age must be less than 64 years as on the circular's closing date.
The job profile for the NMC Legal Consultant is comprehensive, covering various legal and administrative functions within the Commission. Key duties involve providing advice and opinions on legal and administrative matters. Moreover, the consultant will monitor the Commission's litigation across India and coordinate with Standing Counsels and Senior Advocates for effective representation.
Other responsibilities include drafting legal documents such as speaking/reasoned orders, agreements, reports, and public notices. The role also entails vetting counter affidavits, pleadings, and regulations. Additionally, coordination with autonomous boards/sections for timely compliance with court directions, handling RTI applications, VIP references, and parliamentary questions are crucial. Eligible retired officers, who are in good health, must submit their applications in the prescribed format. The application packet should include a copy of the PPO, educational qualification certificates, and the Last Pay Certificate. Therefore, ensure all documents are self-attested. Notably, applications with incomplete information will not be considered.
All applications must be sent to the Under Secretary (Estt.), National Medical Commission, Pocket-14, Sector-8, Dwarka Phase-I, New Delhi-110077. Critically, the last date for receipt of applications is March 23, 2026. Hence, candidates are advised to apply well in advance of the deadline. Finally, shortlisted candidates will undergo an interview for final selection.
The engagement period for the Consultant (Legal) will initially be for one year, with potential extensions based on the Commission's requirements and performance reviews. However, the total engagement period will not exceed five years post-superannuation. Remuneration will be calculated as the last pay drawn minus pension, plus a Transport Allowance as per Government of India instructions. Consequently, retired Government Officers engaged as Consultants may also receive TA/DA for official tours as per their entitlement at retirement.
