Ventricular remodeling (VR) remains a significant clinical challenge following an acute myocardial infarction (AMI). Recent research highlights the impressive Ling-Gui-Zhu-Gan Decoction benefits in mitigating cardiac damage and improving long-term outcomes. This traditional formula works by modulating the hyperinflammatory response, which is crucial for preventing heart failure. By reducing oxidative stress and proinflammatory cytokines, the decoction provides a robust cardioprotective effect for recovering patients.
The study utilized both in vivo rat models and in vitro H9c2 cell cultures to explore the underlying mechanisms. Researchers found that LGZGD effectively targets the ROS/TXNIP/NLRP3 signaling pathway. Specifically, it reduces the levels of reactive oxygen species (ROS) and suppresses the activation of the NLRP3 inflammasome. Consequently, this leads to a decrease in the secretion of IL-1β and IL-18, which are major drivers of myocardial pathology. Furthermore, the decoction significantly lowers trimethylamine N-oxide (TMAO) levels, a known risk factor for cardiovascular events.
Clinicians are increasingly looking at integrated approaches to manage post-AMI recovery. The chemical analysis of LGZGD identified key components such as liquiritin, cinnamic acid, and glycyrrhizic acid. These bioactive compounds contribute to the formula's ability to improve cardiac function and reduce fibrosis. Additionally, the experimental data showed that LGZGD's effects were comparable to standard treatments like captopril in several parameters. Therefore, incorporating such evidence-based traditional medicine could enhance the current standard of care for ventricular remodeling.
LGZGD prevents heart failure by inhibiting ventricular remodeling. It achieves this by reducing oxidative stress and blocking the NLRP3 inflammatory pathway, which prevents harmful structural changes in the heart.
The decoction contains liquiritin, cinnamic acid, kaempferol, and glycyrrhizic acid. These compounds work together to provide potent anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects in the cardiovascular system.
