The IHS4 is a validated tool for assessing HS severity. It calculates scores by counting inflammatory nodules (x1), abscesses (x2), and draining tunnels (x4). A score above 11 indicates severe disease.
Bimekizumab significantly reduced IHS4 scores and lesion counts compared to placebo. By Week 48, many patients achieved a transition from severe to mild or moderate disease states, with sustained clinical response.
Bimekizumab is a monoclonal antibody that selectively inhibits both interleukin-17A (IL-17A) and interleukin-17F (IL-17F). These cytokines are key drivers of the chronic inflammation seen in hidradenitis suppurativa.
