Andhra Pradesh to Build 150 Modern Ayush Health Centres
Impact of New Ayush health centres
Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav recently announced the development of 150 Ayush health centres across the state. This initiative involves a significant investment of Rs 44 crore. Furthermore, the project aims to strengthen traditional Indian medicine systems. Consequently, residents in both rural and urban areas will gain better access to specialized care. These centres will play a pivotal role in the state's healthcare strategy.
Modernisation and Construction Breakdown
The government plans to modernize 90 existing facilities to meet current standards. Additionally, authorities will construct 60 new Ayush health centres within various government hospitals. Among these new additions, 26 units will serve Primary Health Centres (PHCs). Another 26 units will support Community Health Centres (CHCs). Moreover, eight district hospitals will house new facilities. For instance, hospitals in Eluru, Machilipatnam, and Kurnool will establish new centres costing Rs 50 lakh each.
Standardised Infrastructure and Timeline
Currently, the engineering teams have completed nearly 50 per cent of the total work. The Andhra Pradesh Medical Services and Infrastructure Development Corporation (APMSIDC) supervises the progress closely. Each facility follows Indian Public Health Standards (IPHS) guidelines for quality assurance. Furthermore, the branding aligns strictly with Ayushman Arogya Mandir (AAM) norms. Officials expect to finish all construction within the next two months. Therefore, the state will soon offer a more robust framework for traditional medical services.
