Clinical Utility of C-Peptide Testing in Diabetes

C-peptide levels are associated with diabetes type and duration of disease. The measurement of C-peptide provides a better index of endogenous insulin production and pancreatic beta cell function than insulin measurements. This CME offers a rationale for the practical and pragmatic use of c-peptide testing to guide clinical management of individuals with diabetes.
