This study evaluated whether neuronavigation and advanced intraoperative imaging techniques improve surgical outcomes compared with conventional glioma surgery. The meta-analysis included 30 studies published between 2006 and 2026, comprising randomized trials and observational studies. Neuronavigation-guided surgery was associated with significantly better pooled surgical outcomes than conventional approaches (OR 2.37; 95% CI 2.05–2.74), with benefits observed across intraoperative MRI, ultrasound-guided navigation and functional neuronavigation techniques. The overall analysis demonstrated relatively low heterogeneity (I²=22.8%), and sensitivity analyses supported the stability of the findings. The authors concluded that advanced image-guided techniques may improve glioma resection outcomes, although larger multicentre studies are required to establish their long-term clinical benefits.
