p>Union Health Minister J P Nadda recently emphasized the critical need for strong strong>NCD prevention and control/strong> measures during a high-level session on Civil Services Day. Since non-communicable diseases (NCDs) now account for 60% of all deaths in India, the government has shifted its focus from curative to preventive care. Consequently, the Ministry is prioritizing infrastructure development and early detection strategies. This holistic policy, introduced in 2017, integrates promotive, geriatric, and palliative care into the mainstream healthcare system.

h3>Strengthening Infrastructure for NCD Prevention and Control/h3>
p>The government has successfully operationalized more than 1.85 lakh Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across the nation. These centers serve as the primary contact point for 1.45 billion people. Each facility includes frontline health staff, such as ASHA workers, to facilitate local outreach. Additionally, the Centre has developed 107 NCD clinics at the district level and 233 cardiac care units. Furthermore, the latest budget includes plans for a day-care cancer center in every district to enhance local treatment accessibility. Therefore, patients in rural areas now have better access to essential health services.

h3>Diagnostic Milestones and Screening Statistics/h3>
p>Healthcare initiatives have achieved massive scale in screening for hypertension, diabetes, and various cancers. Specifically, the government has screened 41.5 crore individuals for hypertension since 2017. Out of these, 7.1 crore patients received a diagnosis, and 5.7 crore entered notification systems. Similarly, screening for diabetes has covered 41.3 crore people, identifying 4.7 crore diabetic patients. Moreover, oral cancer screenings reached 35.3 crore people, while breast cancer screening covered 16.5 crore women. These large-scale efforts ensure that chronic conditions are detected early, which significantly reduces the risk of cardiovascular complications and renal failure.

h3>Lifestyle Interventions and Digital Health/h3>
p>Minister Nadda highlighted that lifestyle choices contribute to nearly 70% of NCD risk factors. Therefore, the government actively promotes initiatives like \"Eat Right India\" and \"Fit India\" to encourage healthier habits. For instance, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for a 10% reduction in oil, salt, and sugar consumption. Moreover, digital health has seen a massive surge through eSanjeevani. This teleconsultation platform has supported over 46.4 crore patients, effectively bridging the healthcare gap in rural and underserved areas. Significant awareness measures also target tobacco use to further lower mortality rates.
