Vitiligo is a chronic long-lasting disorder that causes areas of the skin to lose color. It is a form of autoimmune disorder. Vitiligo is due to the loss or destruction of melanocytes, which are the cells that produce melanin. Melanin determines the color of skin, hair, and eyes.
